During a working session with the Vietnam Border Guard Command on March 14, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang emphasized that troops of the Border Post of Tra Linh International Border Gate communicate with local people in their ethnic minority languages. They have contributed part of their own salaries and allowances to purchase breeding pigs and crop seedlings for local residents, and have directly guided them in animal husbandry and farming techniques. These efforts have helped people escape poverty and gradually improve their local economy. The Defense Minister’s praise served as a great source of encouragement, inspiring the unit’s troops to continue striving to fulfill their political tasks.

According to Colonel Vu Van Duong, Political Officer of the Border Post of Tra Linh International Border Gate, in 2023 the unit effectively implemented a series of practical programs and directly participated in assisting local people in disaster and pandemic prevention and recovery efforts.

Hoang Thi Nha, Secretary of the Tra Linh Townlet Party Committee, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province, shared that over the past years, the local authorities have worked closely with border troops in building, managing, and protecting national sovereignty and border security. They have coordinated with the Border Post of Tra Linh International Border Gate to organize many programs and movements, yielding practical results and contributing to building and consolidating people’s trust in the Party, State, armed forces, and border guards.

Promoting power of military-civilian solidarity

Since 2023, the Border Post of Tra Linh International Border Gate has collaborated with local authorities in border communes and townlets to exchange information, monitor local developments, and provide timely recommendations to effectively resolve arising issues.

The unit, along with local authorities and mass organizations, has jointly conducted outreach activities among troops and people in border areas regarding the Party’s guidelines and policies, State laws, and local regulations. These activities have helped raise the awareness and responsibility of troops and residents in building and safeguarding national borders and security.

Thanks to effective outreach and education efforts, Vietnam and neighboring countries have maintained the status quo of the borderline and border markers, contributing to building a peaceful and friendly border.

Colonel Duong emphasized that, building on these achievements, the unit will continue mobilizing resources to implement more practical and effective programs and models to improve the living standards of people in border areas. These efforts will help deepen military-civilian ties and enhance overall strength in safeguarding national sovereignty and border security, while maintaining peace and stability in the locality.
