Since the beginning of this year, the command has thoroughly implemented the Party’s military and defense guidelines and effectively carried out state management of national defense. It has pro-actively monitored, assessed and accurately forecast developments, promptly advising and proposing policies and solutions to the Central Military Commission and the MND, successfully handling situations and making important contributions to safeguarding national independence and sovereignty and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development.

Speaking at the meeting, General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised the command for its outstanding achievements over the past time. He requested the command to continue working closely with local authorities to build a strong whole-people national defense in conjunction with the people’s security posture.

He called for close coordination between socio-economic development and the strengthening of national defense and security. The command was asked to focus on building the comprehensive strength and raising the combat readiness of the armed forces of MR1; strictly maintain combat-readiness duties; closely monitor developments and ensure political security, social order and safety in the area; among others.

The command should ensure forces and equipment are ready to proactively participate in disaster prevention and control, search and rescue; and speed up progress while ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the 500-day campaign to enhance the search for, collection and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains.

Earlier, General Nguyen Tan Cuong and the delegation inspected the Northern Junior Cadet School under MR1. He inquired after the school’s cadres, teachers, staff and students, and inspected its facilities and infrastructure serving education and training.

He asked the school to conduct a comprehensive review of its facilities and promptly propose the addition of missing items; study innovations in teaching and learning methods; and focus on training and improving the professional qualifications of teachers and education administrators to better meet task requirements.
