Defense ministry inspects combat readiness of military units
PANO - A delegation of the Ministry of National Defense, led by its Minister General Phan Van Giang, paid working visits to Military Region 5, local agencies and military units in Da Nang city.
The delegation was joined by Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, among others.

After checking the units and listening to the commanding officers’ reports, General Giang praised efforts of the whole-military units in general and the military region in particular in overcoming hardships to complete their assigned tasks. The Military Region 5’s Party Committee and Command has actively grasped all situations, collaborated with the local authorities and relevant units to build all-people defense posture in line with the people's security posture as well as firm defensive areas, he added.
The military region’s Party committees, military agencies and units at all levels were regularly reinforced and developed, contributing to improving the leadership and combat readiness, building clean and firm Party organizations and comprehensively strong units, he stressed.
The defense minister required the military region and other units in the area to focus on improving defense capability and combat readiness, collaborating with relevant forces to promptly deal with unexpected situations, contributing to firmly protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands and maintaining political stability in the area.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong highly valued the outcomes of the military region and local units in undertaking their missions. He urged the units to continue improving regulatory building and military discipline, undertaking regular exercises to ensure combat readiness, and collaborating well with relevant forces to conduct search and rescue missions and the pandemic prevention and control as required.
