At the talks, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai expressed the delight at meeting the delegation of the Cambodian General Department of Immigration. He and General Kirth Chantharith highly valued the outcomes of the bilateral cooperation and rolled out direction for their collaboration in the coming time.

The two sides agreed with the obtained results over the past time. They affirmed that the coordination between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Cambodian General Department of Immigration has helped maintain security and create favorable conditions for activities through border gates, contributing to socio-economic development and strengthening solidarity, friendship, and understanding between local authorities, people, and border defense forces of the two countries.

Over the past two years, border gate management and border defense forces of the two countries have focused on the dual tasks of protecting the borderline and preventing the COVID-19 pandemic. They directed and directly organized activities to mark the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022, the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cambodia diplomatic ties (June 24, 1967 -2022), and the 45 years since Samdech Techo Hun Sen, now the Prime Minister of Cambodia, started the path to topple the genocidal Pol Pot regime.

On behalf of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai thanked General Kirth Chantharith and functional agencies of Cambodian General Department of Immigration for their coordination in rescuing Vietnamese victims who were lured to enter Cambodia illegally and forced to work in illegal business facilities there.

The Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command proposed the two sides maintain their effective cooperation in preventing illegal exit and entry, promptly exchanging information, and dismantling human trafficking rings and forced labor establishments, so as to put an end to those problems.

For his part, General Kirth Chantharith thanked the host for the reception and highly appreciated the outcomes of the talks and delegates’ frank and constructive sharing. He expressed the hope that the two sides will work together to further boost their cooperation in a practical and effective manner.

They agreed to strengthen coordination to enhance the efficiency of the international border gate system; speed up the reform of administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for import and export as well as entry and exit activities; actively exchange information related to activities of various types of crimes, especially drug and human trafficking, smuggling, and illegal entry and exit.

The two sides also agreed to continue creating favorable conditions for people to travel to have their health checked, visit their relatives, and trade; actively advise local authorities to promote people-to-people exchanges between localities along the borderline; and step up dissemination on the strict observance of each country's agreements, regulations, and law on border management.
