Ship 18 leaves Australia, completing assigned tasks at Kakadu 2024
PANO - On September 20, Ship 18 of Brigade 171, Naval Region 2, led by Senior Captain Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2, left Coonawarra port, Darwin city, Australia, starting its return journey to homeland after completing its assigned tasks at Exercise Kakadu 2024, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.
Earlier, on September 19, the closing ceremony of Exercise Kakadu 2024 was held in Darwin. Governor of the Northern Territory of Australia, Hugh Heggie, presided over the ceremony. Senior Captain Nguyen Viet Anh and Commander Do Quang Thuy, Captain of Ship 18, attended the event.

At the ceremony, leaders of the Northern Territory of Australia and Royal Australian Navy thanked the participating countries for sending troops to join the exercise, noting that this was an occasion for participating navies to promote mutual understanding, and together maintaining peace and cooperation in the region and the world.
For his part, Senior Captain Nguyen Viet Anh thanked the Royal Australian Navy and participating navies for creating favorable conditions for Ship 18 and the Vietnamese delegation to fulfill all contents in the exercise.
Ship 18 docked at Coonawarra port in Darwin city on September 8 at the invitation of the Royal Australian Navy to participate in non-combat activities of Exercise Kakadu 2024.
This was the first time the Vietnamese naval ship visited an Australian port and joined Kakadu Exercise. The ship’s participation in the exercise left good impression about the country, people and military of Vietnam on international friends.
