At the gathering, participants reviewed the heroic traditions of the Staff of the Southern Theater. During the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists, under the leadership of Party committees at all levels, the Staff’s officers, staff and soldiers demonstrated initiative, creativity and solidarity, overcoming immense hardships and successfully fulfilling their missions. Their contributions helped liberate South Viet Nam and reunify the country.

Upholding this proud legacy, veterans of the Staff have remained united and supported one another over the years. They have strictly complied with the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, actively participated in patriotic emulation movements, and helped search for the remains of fallen soldiers. Notably, members have contributed to the construction and renovation of 33 houses for policy beneficiaries and comrades with difficult conditions, helping improve living conditions and support local development.

In his remarks, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his profound gratitude for the dedication, sacrifices and feats-of-arm of generations of leaders, officers, staff and soldiers of the Staff of the Southern Theater during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists to liberate the South and reunify the country.

After outlining major achievements in Party building, socio-economic development, and military and defense affairs during the first nine months of 2026, General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the department’s glorious traditions constitute a valuable spiritual legacy. Therefore, agencies and units should continue implementing policies and gratitude activities for national contributors.

He called on the Staff of the Southern Theater’s  Liaison Board to continue connecting generations and strengthening bonds of comradeship, while actively collecting and preserving historical documents.

He also stressed the importance of caring for veterans and families of policy beneficiaries, strengthening revolutionary tradition education for younger generations, and stepping up efforts to search for and recover fallen soldiers’ remains.

The GDP Chairman further called on veterans to uphold the qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and actively combat negative practices. They should maintain absolute confidence in the Party’s leadership, the military’s role and capabilities, and its combat readiness, while placing their trust in today’s officers and soldiers. These younger generations, he said, are carrying forward the proud legacy of their predecessors and working to build and firmly defend the Fatherland in the new revolutionary period.
