Over the past time, Thanh Hoa province has mobilized the combined strength of its entire political system to carry out search, recovery, and identification efforts in a coordinated manner. The province has completed excavations and collected 2,602 samples eligible for DNA testing, six months ahead of schedule. It has also recovered the remains of 30 fallen soldiers and identified 11 through DNA matching and other verification methods.
Addressing the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh commended the province’s sense of responsibility and the results achieved in recent years. He called on the provincial Steering Committee 515 to conduct regular inspections, monitor progress, and evaluate results; maintain a thorough understanding of local conditions; and properly apply available information, methods, and procedures. He also emphasized the need to persist with the principle of “tackling easier and clearer cases first and ensuring certainty at every stage.”
In addition to stepping up public communications, he stressed the importance of shifting from waiting for information to pro-actively gathering it at the grassroots level. He also called for adequate resources and support for personnel directly involved in the mission, particularly the team searching for and recovering fallen soldiers’ remains currently operating in neighboring Laos.
