On behalf of the Vietnam Border Guard, Lt. Gen. Vu Trung Kien praised Military Region 5 (MR5) for its outstanding 2025 achievements. He specifically thanked MR5 leadership and local commands for their coordination, which enabled border units to secure boundaries and maintain social stability.

Lt. Gen. Le Ngoc Hai, representing MR5, attributed the region's successes to this close partnership. For 2026, he affirmed that MR5 will strengthen unity with the Border Guard to monitor situations proactively and handle emerging issues early, ensuring no "passive surprises" in fulfilling national tasks.

During his inspection of MR5-based units and the Central Task Force for Drug and Crime Prevention, Lt. Gen. Vu Trung Kien commended their combat readiness and extended Tet greetings. He urged personnel to remain vigilant and resolute in their missions.

The units strictly maintained combat readiness, safeguarding border and maritime sovereignty while effectively combating crimes, notably drug trafficking. Their involvement in social welfare and disaster relief further strengthened the all-people border defense. For Lunar New Year 2026, the Commander ordered strict duty maintenance and coordination with other forces to ensure security. He also directed units to provide adequate care for personnel on duty and foster military-civilian ties through local community visits.
