Border guard troops construct houses for residents of D’Ran commune. |
Lam Dong is a province with a wide area and complex terrain, including many remote and hard-to-reach communes where people’s livelihoods remain difficult. During the recent storms and floods, numerous localities suffered serious damage. Dozens of houses, mostly belonging to poor and near-poor households, policy families, and ethnic minority residents, were severely affected, with roofs torn off, walls collapsed, or structures rendered unsafe, especially amid unpredictable weather conditions.
According to Senior Colonel Tran Viet Hung, Political Commissar of the Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command, natural disasters leave behind not only material losses but also deep concerns about shelter and daily life, particularly as the Lunar New Year approaches. He noted that the most urgent requirement is to help people quickly stabilize their living conditions, because only when housing is secure can livelihoods truly recover.
From that reality, the Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command determined that assisting people in overcoming disaster consequences and rebuilding houses was not merely an urgent task, but a heartfelt mission of border guard solders, force closely bound to the people in border and remote areas. On that basis, the “Quang Trung Campaign” was launched with clear objectives, decisive organization, and swift action.
Immediately after the campaign was initiated, the Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command developed a detailed plan and assigned specific responsibilities to each unit. Border posts coordinated closely with local authorities to assess damage in each area and household, ensuring appropriate and practical support measures.
Core construction teams were established, composed of officers and soldiers with experience in building, mechanics, carpentry, and electrical and plumbing work. At the same time, available vehicles and technical equipment were mobilized to serve the mission. One of the campaign’s focal points was D’Ran commune, where many households had suffered heavy damage. Task forces were quickly deployed to conduct on-site surveys, assess damage levels, and determine suitable plans for repair or reconstruction, ensuring safety, durability, and long-term use.
Major Nguyen Vinh Truong, Deputy Head of the Logistics–Technical Section and leader of the housing repair team, emphasized that the mission carried both political responsibility and deep personal commitment. Officers and soldiers worked pro-actively and voluntarily, making full use of every day and every hour so residents could soon return to stable living conditions.
Throughout the campaign, construction sites remained active from early morning until late in the day. Regardless of weekends or weather conditions, Border guard soldiers worked with a high sense of responsibility. Beyond contributing labor, they also guided residents on construction techniques and practical arrangements suited to each family’s living needs. For households facing exceptional hardship, units coordinated with organizations and benefactors to provide additional building materials.

Border troops working tirelessly to complete project |
For many residents, the timely assistance was deeply meaningful. The requirement set by the command was clear that houses must be completed and handed over before Tet, allowing families to welcome the new year in safe and stable conditions. This goal reflected not only efficiency, but also strong humanitarian values.
The implementation of “Quang Trung Campaign” in Lam Dong continues the border guard’s longstanding tradition of standing alongside the people in the most difficult circumstances. As the year draws to a close, the image of border guard soldiers quietly rebuilding damaged houses has left a lasting impression, one built on trust, solidarity, and the enduring bond between the military and the people.
