Coast Guard Region 3 brings sea and island contest to Vinh Long, Dong Thap
PANO - On January 13 and 15, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, in coordination with functional agencies of Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces, organized the provincial-level round of the “I love national sea and islands” contest for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The competition featured 200 outstanding contestants selected from over 18,000 students across 19 secondary schools in the two provinces. Participants competed in four rounds, namely “Setting sail,” “Overcoming waves,” “Docking,” and “Planting sovereignty markers.” The content focused on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, international law, history, and local cultural traditions.
The organizing panel awarded prizes to top performers and selected 10 outstanding students from each province to compete in the Southern region-level final, scheduled for March in Ho Chi Minh City.
On this occasion, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command coordinated with the Cong Ly (Justice) Newspaper to present 30 bicycles and 40 scholarships to disadvantaged students with strong academic records.

According to Senior Colonel Cao Xuan Quan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, the Vietnam Coast Guard has so far organized over 190 such contests nationwide, attracting more than 430,000 participants. The force has also awarded thousands of scholarships and bicycles, helping spread the love for national sea and islands among the younger generation.
