Troops help people overcome natural disaters’s consequences
PANO - On June 13-14, the Border Post of A Dot Border Gate under the Hue city Border Guard Command coordinated with local authorities in Dong Son and Lam Dot communes, A Luoi district to promptly help people overcome the consequences of a thunderstorm.
Accordingly, due to the influence of Storm No.1’s circulation, A Luoi district witnessed heavy rain and strong winds on June 13. The thunderstorm caused 53 houses in Dong Son and Lam Dot communes, A Luoi district to lose their roofs. Among them, 11 houses were completely unroofed.
After the weather temporarily stabilized, the Border Post of A Dot Border Gate mobilized troops to help people overcome the consequences of a thunderstorm. They formed two teams to support people to reroof their houses, clear fallen trees, and clean up the surrounding areas, hoping that they would soon resume their normal life.
* During the recent heavy rains in Quang Tri province, Huong Hoa district was severely affected, with flooding in Lao Bao townlet and Thuan commune. Landslides also disrupted traffic on several routes. Learning about the situation, military units deployed troops to help local authorities relocate 217 households and their properties to safer places.
Troops and local militiamen established checkpoints on roads affected by flooding and landslides to prevent people from passing through dangerous areas. Thanks to the pro-active efforts of the forces, the district avoided any loss of life.
On June 14, as the rains subsided and water levels in rivers receded, many forces were sent to the district to quickly address the aftermath.
On the same day, units stationed in the coastal border areas of Quang Tri province also mobilized troops to assist people in stabilizing their lives. Military medical staff coordinated with the localities to prepare measures to prevent potential outbreaks of diseases after the flood.
