In late July and early August 2025, two large-scale heavy rains struck Son La province, particularly the communes of Chieng So, Muong Lam, Bo Sinh, Huoi Mot, Muong Lan, and Sop Cop (formerly under Song Ma and Sop Cop districts), causing severe loss of life and property among the local population.
Following the conclusion of the Prime Minister and directive from the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 2 collaborated with Son La province to construct 51 new houses, relocate 205 others, and repair 61 damaged ones for residents.
All the work was completed after nearly two months with nearly 23,000 working days contributed by over 540 officers from the Son La Provincial Military Command, Division 316 and the Department of Logistics and Technical Services under Military Region 2 and local forces.

Apart from the houses, over 23 kilometers of inter-village and inter-commune roads were also repaired, and more than 5,000 cubic meters of rock was cleared along the section of National Highway 4G leading to Sop Cop commune. These efforts ensured smooth transportation for residents and facilitated the delivery of construction materials.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Xuan emphasized that despite difficult working conditions, the joint forces carried out the construction, relocation, and repair with determination. Upholding the spirit of “All for the people” and “Wherever the people face hardship, soldiers are present,” troops of Military Region 2 teamed up with local authorities, overcame challenges to complete the projects ahead of schedule with high quality.
On this occasion, 26 collectives and 83 individuals with outstanding achievements in task implementation received commendations from the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Region 2 Command, the Chairman of the Son La Provincial People’s Committee, and the Son La Provincial Military Command.
