On April 13 and 14, the Lao Cai provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, visited and presented gifts to 144 needy households in border localities of Bat Xat district.

Accordingly, each household received 10kg of rice, five facemasks and two bars of soap. In addition, border posts stationed in the localities handed over a box of instant noodles to each needy household.
The practical deed aimed to encourage people in border areas to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also to strengthen the national unity block and build people’s trust in the leadership of the Party, contributing to safeguarding political security and public order in these areas.
On the occasion, troops also updated local people on the developments of the COVID-19, equipped them with methods to prevent the disease, and advised them not to cross the border illegally to look for jobs.
Earlier, the provincial Border Guard Command, the Military Bank and a benefactor handed over five industrial gas cookers and 20 small cookers to ease the difficulties of border troops, who are guarding in border areas to prevent the disease from entering the country.

In two days, the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command handed over 8 tons of rice and 400 bottles of cooking oil to needy families in Ia Rve and Ia Lop of Ea Sup district and Krong Na of Buon Don district. The gifts are worth VND 120 million and were donated by leaders and troops of the provincial Military Command and Border Guard Command.
Alongside the gifts, leaders of the Border Guard Command encouraged families to overcome difficulties and strictly exercise COVID-19 prevention regulations.
On April 14, Tan Cang (New port) Medical Center and the Women’s Association of the Logistic Department of the Saigon Newport Corporation presented 2,000 facemasks, 2,000 bottles of clean water, 100 bottles of antiseptic and 20 liters of disinfectant liquid to two quarantine areas in District 2 and checkpoints at Cat Lai port.

Meanwhile, the Thanh Border Post of the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Command and benefactors presented 4 tons of rice to needy families in Thanh commune, Huong Hoa district.
Thanh is a border commune, and 80% of its population is of the Van Kieu, whose livelihood depends primarily on agricultural production. Like other localities across the country, the Van Kieu people have been strongly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The gifts, donated by the border post’s personnel and benefactors will partly help people overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19.
