Relief flights reaching isolated areas
On the early morning of July 25, relief teams loaded tons of food, drinking water, and essential goods onto helicopters operated by the Northern Helicopter Company (Corps 18) and Regiment 916 of Division 371 (Air Defense - Air Force Service). However, bad weather condition delayed operations. By mid-morning, two helicopters carried out four sorties to transport nearly 12 tons of relief goods to isolated mountainous communes in western Nghe An, including Muong Tip, which was completely cut off.

Due to dangerous terrains, pilots had to execute airdrops instead of landing. Over two days, 10 helicopter sorties transported 28 tons of aid. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Phu, head of the political affairs division of the Northern Helicopter Company and lead pilot, stressed that flood relief flights demand urgency, coordination, experience and high determination to ensure both accuracy and safety despite unfavorable weather and obstacles like fallen trees and debris.
Meanwhile, over 300 troops from Division 324 traveled nearly 50km to reach Con Cuong commune center to assist families in cleaning homes. Troops from Regiment 764 under the Nghe An provincial Military Command, and more than 100 local militia troops were joining hands in racing against time to clear mud, debris in Tuong Duong commune. In Chau Khe commune, soldiers, militiamen, canoes and boats were mobilized to give essential goods to isolated residents. “Their deeds touched our hearts,” said Quang Thi Tuoi, head of Chau Khe commune’s Yen Hoa village.
