In addition, five boats anchored at Sa Huynh fishing port each received a support package worth VND 2 million, including cash and essential goods. The timely support and encouragement helped strengthen the fishermen’s confidence so they could soon stabilize their lives and continue earning a living at sea.

Alongside social welfare activities, Coast Guard Region 2 coordinated with local authorities to organize a conference on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing for fishermen, ship owners, captains, and seafood business households in the area.

During the event, Coast Guard Region 2 introduced the functions, missions, and traditions of the coast guard force while disseminating State regulations on offshore fishing and measures to combat IUU fishing. The program aimed to ensure that fishing activities comply with Vietnamese law and international regulations, contributing to the protection and conservation of marine resources and the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.

The activities also demonstrated joint efforts with local Party committees and authorities to help remove the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning and effectively implement social welfare initiatives, thereby strengthening the close relationship between the military and the people, especially between the Vietnam Coast Guard and coastal communities.

On this occasion, the program presented 50 gift packages to disadvantaged fishing families, each worth VND 1 million. National flags, legal handbooks, leaflets, and informational materials on maritime sovereignty and sustainable fishing practices were also distributed.
