Various practical activities held within the program |
The event reaffirmed the pioneering role of young members of the armed forces in protecting the environment and improving the landscape of military units. More than 300 officers and youth union members from agencies and units across Coast Guard Region 2 participated in the campaign with strong determination. Under the slogan “Youths of Coast Guard Region 2 Command join hands to protect the marine environment,” participants formed teams to carry out a range of practical activities.
Along coastal areas bordering the units and local roads, youth union members collected, sorted, and processed more than two tons of waste, particularly plastic waste, nylon bags, and foam buoys washed ashore. At agencies and units, youth members also cleared bushes, dredged drainage ditches along internal roads and wharf areas, and renovated flower beds and ornamental plants, helping create a “bright, green, clean, and beautiful” environment throughout the barracks.

Responding to the theme of Youth Month 2026, the campaign extended beyond the unit’s premises into the surrounding community. The Youth Union of Coast Guard Region 2 coordinated with local youth organizations to raise awareness among fishermen about the harmful impacts of plastic waste on marine ecosystems.
Captain Nguyen Tien Hung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Coast Guard Ship CSB 6001 under Squadron 211, Flotilla 21, said that “Green Sunday is not merely a labor activity but also an opportunity for youth members to recognize their responsibility toward the nation’s sea and islands.” He added that the image of young people in blue shirts working alongside coast guard personnel creates a vibrant and inspiring impression among local residents.
By the end of the campaign, the coastal area surrounding the unit had become clean and orderly. The momentum generated by the “Green Sunday” campaign is expected to contribute to a successful Youth Month 2026 for Coast Guard Region 2, supporting the unit’s mission of safeguarding sovereignty and maintaining security and safety in the central sea and islands.
