At this time, due to the impact of Typhoon Kalmaegi, many vessels inside and outside the province were anchored at the shelter, allowing the dissemination activity to effectively reach more participants.
During the event, the joint working group presented national flags, distributed leaflets, and provided guidance on the Vietnam Law of the Sea, the Fisheries Law, and related legal regulations on fisheries management, fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and administrative penalties in the fisheries sector.
Major Nguyen Quang Cuong, Deputy Political Commissar of Squadron 202, said that in preventing and eliminating IUU fishing violations, the unit has pro-actively carried out dissemination work through diverse formats. During patrols, inspections, and law enforcement or search and rescue missions at sea, its vessels tried to encourage fishermen to strictly comply with Vietnamese and international fisheries laws, and to prevent illegal operations in foreign waters. Fishermen were also encouraged to join in monitoring, reporting, and denouncing IUU fishing violations.

These efforts aimed to raise fishermen’s legal awareness and sense of responsibility in lawful fishing practices, foster social consensus, and mobilize collective strength toward the national goal of having the European Commission “yellow card” warning on Vietnam’s seafood exports removed as soon as possible.
