Students of Ly Tu Trong Primary School take part in the “Border Lesson” program at border marker No.1369.

Non-commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tuan Anh, a cipher officer of the station, introduced to the students the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on managing and protecting national sovereignty and border security. He also provided essential information about maritime borders and islands; the sovereign rights and jurisdiction of coastal nations; the history of the national border’s formation; the significance of the national border system and markers; and the importance of managing and safeguarding territorial sovereignty and national border security. He emphasized the responsibility of students in contributing to protecting national border sovereignty as well.

On listening to the border guards’ presentation, Nguyen Thanh Vinh, a fourth-grade student, shared, “At school, every Monday morning we perform the flag-raising ceremony, but this is the first time I have experienced it at a national border marker. It makes me feel so proud and excited. Standing right at the border marker and hearing the soldiers talk about their sacred duty of protecting every inch of our Fatherland, I feel deeply moved and respectful. I dream of becoming a soldier to protect these border markers and safeguard our country.”

According to Colonel Chu Xuan Quyet, Political Commissar of the Border Post of Mong Cai International Border Gate, with the desire that every student, from the moment they start forming awareness, develops a sense of protecting national sovereignty and border security, since early 2025, his unit has coordinated with local schools to organize extracurricular sessions called ‘Border Lesson’ for students in the area. The lessons are carefully prepared by the unit’s officers, tailored to each age group, making the sessions lively and effective.

Through this activity, students in border areas have gained deeper understanding of the traditions, functions, duties, and authority of the border guard force as well as the national borders and markers. From there, they develop a sense of personal and community responsibility in safeguarding territorial sovereignty and border security right from their school days.
