Quang An commune is situated in Tam Giang lagoon area, often affected by natural disasters. In addition, due to the shortage of a cultural house, An Xuan Tay villagers find it difficult to hold community gatherings.

Acknowledging the situation and to meet the aspiration of the local Party committee, authorities, and people, the Ministry of National Defense assigned the ADAF Service to survey, design, and build the house as a gift to An Xuan Tay village.

After three months of construction since July 1, the 362 sq.m two-storey house was completed and presented before the start of the rainy season. The house was built with VND 2 billion support from the ADAF Service, other financial assistance and working days from local authorities and people.

Addressing the event, Major General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, attributed the completion of the house ahead of the schedule to the thorough direction of the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the ADAF Service, the close coordination and safe and quality performance of Engineering Brigade 28 under the ADAF Service, and the support of local Party committee, authorities and people.

The deputy chief of the General Staff hoped that local leaders and people will make use of, protect, and bring into play this facility which is in depth of the troops and people solidarity to well perform its functions as a cultural gathering place for local people and a place for locals to take shelters during occurrence of natural disasters to minimize disaster-caused damage.

On the occasion, Gen. Son presented 40 gifts, each worth VND 500,000, to local disadvantaged families and a set of speakers, valued at VND 10 million, to the village.

Also, the ADAF Service, Military Region 4 Command, and Thua Thien Hue provincial Military Command gave many practical gifts to the village.
