At the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Duc Soat, VNASMA President, stressed that since its establishment, the unit has teamed up with Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee to present Tet gifts and give supports to victims of UXO. Moreover, via short-term courses, it has raised awareness of locals in three communes of Vi Xuyen district and some Central provinces on preventing UXO risks. It also successfully organized a live-aired program themed “for a peaceful and developed life”.
Noteworthily, it proactively established and expanded ties with several State organizations, local authorities, social and international organizations in surmounting post-war UXO consequences. To date, the Association has more than 500 members.
Apart from hailing the unit, the Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics asked the Association to promote popularization and education for locals, especially students, on UXO and have more practical activities as well as number the victims of UXO to roll out plans for supporting them.
