Born in January 1, 1914 into a farming family in Niem Pho hamlet, Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province, General Nguyen Chi Thanh, whose birth name is Nguyen Vinh, was awake to the revolutionary ideas at a young age. During his 30 year-plus revolutionary career, he was entrusted with different important positions. In any position, he demonstrated his political stance and strategic vision and excellently accomplished all assigned missions, greatly contributing to the revolutionary cause.
Delivering an opening speech, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh affirmed that comrade Nguyen Chi Thanh was a resilient communist and a talented and virtuous officer who wholeheartedly devoted his whole life to compatriots and comrades. In any position, the General demonstrated his absolute loyalty to revolutionary ideals, the Party, and the people.
General Vinh emphasized that General Thanh’s virtues, wisdom, and valuable contribution are assets invaluable to current leadership in the revolutionary movement, socialism building, the armed forces, revolutionary military building, and development of the Party's guidelines and the art of the people's warfare.

In the hearts of Thua Thien Hue province, comrade Nguyen Chi Thanh is an eminent son and pride of the Central province.
In his speech, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet highlighted General Thanh’s vibrant and continuous revolutionary life and outstanding contribution considered valuable asset of the Party, State, and people. He added that it is essential to study, preserve, apply, and promote those spiritual assets in the current revolutionary cause.
The organizing panel has received more than 70 reports of former and current leaders of the Party, State, and military, leaders of Thua Thien Hue province, military senior officers, scientists, and historical witnesses.
Reports focused on the life, revolutionary career, and great contribution of General Nguyen Chi Thanh and highlighted the wisdom of the strategic, excellent practical leader of Vietnam’s revolution.
At the seminar, valuable practical lessons from the General’s revolutionary career and contribution were drawn to be applied to the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and gradually-modernized military.
