The event was to mark the 110th birthday of late General Nguyen Chi Thanh (January 1, 1914 - 2024), former Politburo member, former Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, former Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP).
Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Deputy Director of the GDP, attended the opening ceremony.
On display are nearly 200 photos, documents and objects featuring the great merits and contribution of General Nguyen Chi Thanh in the national salvation, construction and defense cause.

These are precious exhibits carefully kept by the two museums. Some typical objects include the P38 pistol used by the General for self-defense since 1947, the bike he rode in Viet Bac war zone, the uniform he wore in the 1959-1967 period, the document “Why Southern troops and people won big, the U.S. and Sai Gon troops lost big in the 1965-1966 dry season.”
In his opening remarks, Colonel Le Vu Huy, Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum, emphasized that the exhibition aimed to express gratitude to and honor General Nguyen Chi Thanh for his great merits and contribution to the nation, contributing to encouraging officers, soldiers, and people, especially young ones, to strive to study, work, and make contribution to the current Fatherland building and safeguarding.

On behalf of the General’s family, the General’s daughter, Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Ha, said that General Nguyen Chi Thanh is the pride of the whole family, and younger generations. His example is a driving force for them to practice, live a useful life, and contribute more to the country to be worthy of the forefathers.
The exhibition will last until March next year.
