The event was to mark the 110th birthday of General Nguyen Chi Thanh, former Politburo member, former Deputy Secretary of the CMC, former Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs.
The mission offered incense and laid wreath at Mai Dich Cemetery, where General Nguyen Chi Thanh is resting in peace, to express respect and deep gratitude for his great contribution to the Party’s revolutionary cause and military building in different periods.

After incense offering ceremony at Mai Dich Cemetery, General Cuong and the delegation visited General Thanh’s family and offered incense in remembrance of the late General at his house.
On the occasion, the Chief of the General Staff and the delegation toured General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum at 82, Tan Nhue, Thuy Phuong ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
General Nguyen Chi Thanh, whose birthname is Nguyen Vinh, was born on January 1, 1914 in Niem Pho hamlet, Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien province (now Thua Thien Hue province). He was an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, a steadfast communist soldier, and a talented leader who devoted his whole life to national independence and socialism and the happiness of the people.

During his 30 year-plus revolutionary career, he was entrusted with different important positions. General Nguyen Chi Thanh was present in the most difficult and fiercest places and exerted his highest sense of responsibility, energy, and intelligence to contribute to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the people, and the military.
