Naval Air Force Regiment 954 (predecessor of Naval Air Force Brigade 954) was founded on September 15 in Cat Bi Airport, Northern Province of Hai Phong to meet the requirement of protecting national sovereignty over seas, islands, continental shelf, and the exclusive economic zone as well as the development of the Navy. 

At the ceremony

Having reinforced its organization and force after establishment, the unit started the comprehensive implementation of missions with a focus on organizing flight training and ensuring flight safety, while carrying out extra missions, deserving to be a key force in safeguarding national sovereignty over seas and islands.

Promoting the unit’s heroic tradition, troops and defense workers of the unit have over the past 35 years paid attention to building a politically-strong unit, raising its combat strength, and carrying out combat readiness missions. The unit was also among the contributors to the success of important political events of the Party and Nation.

With its recorded achievements over the past 35 years, Naval Air Force Brigade 954 was honored with many noble titles, including Hero of the People’s Armed Forces during the renewal period, the first-, second-, and third-class Feat of Arms Orders, and the first-and third-class Fatherland Protection Orders. Meanwhile, dozens of groups and individuals of the unit were presented with many awards, contributing to  highlighting the brigade’s glorious tradition.

In the coming time, Brigade 954 will further raise its training and combat readiness quality as well as operational capability and develop new tactics, so as to meet the requirement of protecting sovereignty over seas and islands in the new period.

At the meeting, Rear Admiral Pham Van Vung, Political Commissar of the Vietnam People's Navy, handed over the order to the unit.
