The project in Military Region 3 is one of the key tasks aimed at continuing the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense’s policy on war legacy relief. According to the approved plan, the total area for mine clearance under the project is 10,985 hectares, concentrated in Quang Ninh province, specifically in the communes of Duong Hoa, Quang Duc, Hai Son, Luc Hon, Hoanh Mo, and Binh Lieu. Within this component project, Truong Son Construction Corporation (Corps 12) is tasked with implementing Package RPBMVN-02.

Addressing the event, Major General Nguyen Duc Dung, Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff of Military Region 3, emphasized that although the war has long ended, unexploded ordnance remains a potential threat to the safety of people’s daily life, production, and livelihoods. The project will contribute to gradually clearing land, ensuring safety for local residents, and facilitating the implementation of socio-economic development projects, infrastructure construction, agricultural and forestry development, and other civilian activities in the area.

Package RPBMVN-02 covers areas in Luc Phu village; Po Hen village (Northern and Eastern areas of the former Vay Khay village), Hai Son commune; Na Tao, Na Khau, and Dong Long villages in Luc Hon commune; and Quang Son 4 village in Duong Hoa commune. These areas feature diverse terrains, assessed to still contain potential risks of unexploded ordnance left over from the war.

In particular, much of the area in Po Hen village consists of forest’s buffer zone with rugged terrain and dense forest cover, requiring close coordination with the forest management authority to ensure thorough clearance operations.

At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Le Tien Dung, Second-in-Command of Corps 12, pledged to deploy sufficient personnel and modern, advanced equipment, pro-actively develop detailed and specific plans, strictly follow technical procedures, and ensure absolute safety in all aspects under the motto “Safety, accuracy, efficiency.”
