According to a report at the event, in the first six months of this year, the whole military comprehensively, creatively, flexibly, effectively carried out Party and political work activities, and completed routine and unscheduled missions.

Highlights included timely provision of information prior new, complicated and sensitive situational developments, active protection of the Party’s ideological foundation, active fight against wrongful and hostile viewpoints, good coordination in celebrations of big events of the country and military, pro-active preparations for upcoming all-level Party congresses, among others.
At the meeting, delegates discussed attainments, pointed out shortcomings and difficulties and proposed some leadership solutions to help improve the quality and efficiency of the work in the coming time.
Speaking highly of agencies and units for their accomplishments in the work in the first half of this year, Gen. Quyet laid stress on the missions for the rest of the year.
He asked defense agencies and military units to enhance education for troops so that troops show absolute trust in the leadership of the Party, management of the State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense and high determination to overcome difficulties, undertake and complete assignments in the spirit of “Five Determination's,” and “Five Pro-activeness's.” They should also promote solidarity among troops, and relations between cadres and soldiers.
The GDP chief also asked the GDP’s affiliates to further coordinate with each other in organizing activities in celebration of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Whole-people Defense Festive Day, the founding anniversary of the GDP as well as boost dissemination to spread the good images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and good features of military culture.
Agencies and units were also requested to pay attention to personnel, mass mobilization, and policy work.
He emphasized that the Party and political work should follow the real performance of military and defense missions, such as training, exercises, defense competitions, disaster prevention, regularity building, among others.
The same day, Gen. Quyet chaired a meeting of the Organs of the GDP to review their implementation of tasks in the first six months and roll out tasks for the remainder of the year.
At the meeting, GDP leaders presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in task performance in the first half. The Organs of the GDP also launched a high-level emulation drive entitled “Proud of traditions - Gaining more achievements - Deserving to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers.”
