General Staff leader visits border troops in Quang Tri province
PANO - A mission of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, visited the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Command on January 10.
At the meeting, Commander of the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Senior Colonel Le Van Phuong briefed the delegates on the border situations and reviewed task performances in 2020.
Particularly, in 2020, amid the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, troops of the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard exerted their utmost efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges and successfully accomplish their assigned missions.
For these outstanding achievements gained in 2020, individuals and groups of the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard were awarded the Second-class Feat of Arms Order and several certificates of merit by the State President, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of National Defense, the Border Guard Command, and the provincial Party committees and authorities.
Having been briefed upon the task performance of the unit, General Tan hailed their remarkable efforts and achievements over the past time.
He also asked the troops to follow all situations and promote internal unity to firmly protect national sovereignty and border security, as well as well prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic.
The unit’s chain of command should strictly maintain combat readiness to ensure absolute safety for the 13th National Party Congress, and further take care of troops and local people’ life during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, General Tan added.
