General Nguyen Tan Cuong pays tribute, extends Tet greetings to former leaders of Party, State, military
PANO - On January 30, as the Lunar New Year (Tet) is drawing near, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister General Nguyen Tan Cuong visited, extended Tet greetings, paid tribute to former leaders of the Party, State and military.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong and his entourage visited and respectfully offered incense and flowers in tribute to late General Secretary Le Kha Phieu; late President Le Duc Anh; and former Ministers of National Defense including General Vo Nguyen Giap, former Commander-in-Chief and former Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers; General Van Tien Dung; General Doan Khue; General Phung Quang Thanh; General Chu Huy Man, former Director of the General Department of Political Affairs; and former Chiefs of the General Staff and former Deputy Defense Ministers General Hoang Van Thai, General Le Trong Tan, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, and Lt. Gen. Nguyen Hai Bang, former Deputy Director of the National Defense Academy.

Gen. Cuong expressed deep gratitude to former Party, State, and military leaders for their contribution to the nation’s revolutionary cause and defense. Speaking with their families, he offered Tet greetings and encouraged them to uphold family traditions in building a prosperous country. On the same day, Gen. Cuong visited and congratulated Gen. Pham Van Tra, Gen. Do Ba Ty, and Lt. Gen. Dang Quan Thuy.

During these visits, Gen. Cuong highlighted the military’s 2025 achievements, emphasizing its success in routine and unexpected missions. These efforts earned trust from the Party, State, and public. He urged former leaders to continue contributing their expertise to defense initiatives. In response, the generals thanked the CMC and MND, expressing confidence that the military will remain steadfast in building and defending the Fatherland under Party leadership.
