Senior Colonel Tran Thi Bich Duyen, Deputy Director of Factory Z176, General Department of Defense Industry: Being active, dare to do and take responsibility

After 34 years working in the factory, via many positions, from a staff to deputy director of the factory, I always do my best to complete all assigned tasks. In 2020, the factory’s business was facing difficulties due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing me to find out suitable solutions.

Senior Colonel Tran Thi Bich Duyen (first from left) introduces the factory's products to foreign customers.

I actively studied the market and proposed plans to address difficulties by quickly transforming production, developing new anti-pandemic products on the factory’s production line. As a result, non-woven fabric masks, such as AKD 06, AKD 08, AKD 09, AKD 10, protective suits like BH KD 08, BH KD 09, among others,  were made and consumed widely in domestic and international markets. Meanwhile, many big consumers placed orders worth millions of U.S. dollars.

The rapid transformation of production during the pandemic outbreak time helped the factory increase its revenue in comparison to 2019 as well as its labors’ income. To succeed, I thought that we need to be active and dare to do and take responsibility.

Major Dinh Thi Huong, Party and political work Department, Army Officer Candidate School No.2: Never give up

Six years ago, I had thyroid cancer when my son was nearly 3 years old. Overcoming difficulties, I  was having the disease treated while preparing for the exam of a post-graduate program. Finally, I passed the exam and joined the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for post-graduate program and my health gradually became stable. However, nearly a month later, I was suffered from another deadly disease. At that time, I was really upset.

Thinking about my children, family, relatives, comrades, and job, I chose to keep going and not to give up. I believed in myself and in the doctors who were treating me at that time. During my treatment, I still joined activities of the school and unions. Currently, my health is quite good, and I have restarted teaching. From my point of view, I found out that in any circumstance, we should be positive and keep hoping that everything will be fine, so as to overcome difficulties and live more meaningfully.

Non-commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Ong Thi Diep, Air Defense - Air Force (ADAF) Technical College, ADAF Service: Trying to raise education quality

In recent years, the ADAF Technical College has focused on renovating the education and training work by shifting to active teaching methodology so as to promote cadets’ activeness and creativeness. To do so, female lecturers of the school have boosted scientific research in order to renew teaching methods.

Basing on the unit’s task requirement, in teaching process, my female colleagues and I always give cadets lectures with contents in line with reality. When we face challenges and difficulties, we always study interdisciplinary knowledge to address arising issues. Women doing scientific research are also affected by many factors such as their daily work and family. For example, I have two children and my husband is a soldier working far away from home. Therefore, I have to both ensure my work and my family. Thanks to the encouragement of the unit’s leaders, we overcome difficulties and our initiatives are highly appreciated, contributing to raising the quality of education and training.
