According to the defense chief, these will be practical achievements to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day.
General Giang made the request at the national politico-military conference held on July 10 to review the military’s task performance in the first six months of this year.

At the meeting, Gen. Giang applauded officers and soldiers in the whole military for their completion of the tasks for the first half.
On the basis of forecasts, analyses on global, regional, and domestic situations related to defense and military missions in the coming time, the defense minister asked Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels to embrace and effectively actualize Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s direction at the conference and Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s direction on “Seven Dare’s,” “Five Determination’s,” and “Five Pro-activeness’s” spirit.
They were requested to raise capability in studying, making forecasts, and evaluating situations, giving recommendations to the Party and State to issue military and defense policies and strategies to meet short- and long-term Fatherland protection missions, and handling situations in a timely manner.
The defense chief asked for good preparation for the submission of the Law on the People’s Air Defense and the draft law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on the Officers of the Vietnam People’s Army to the National Assembly; implementation of solutions to firmly consolidating the whole people’s defense disposition, all-level defensive areas; improvement of defense and security education work; as well as effective operations of the self-defense, militia, and reserve forces.
He urged units to maintain combat readiness regulations, closely manage the sky, waters, border, and inland areas of the nation and firmly defend national territorial sovereignty, ensure security and order across the country while organizing close-to-reality intensive training.
Regarding the parade in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the VPA and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day, Gen. Giang requested relevant agencies and units to organize training to show the military’s regularity and strength.
Fighting against hostile views, further protecting the Party’s ideological foundation, promoting emulation movements, seriously and closely carrying out international integration and defense diplomacy activities, building exemplary Military Party Organization are among tasks that agencies and units should focus on in the last six months of this year according to the defense minister’s request.
