The meeting saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; representatives of relevant agencies under the Defense Ministry, General Staff and General Department of Politics; as well as key cadres of the General Department of Logistics.

On behalf of the general department's leadership, Major General Tran Duy Giang, Director of the General Department of Logistics, briefed General Giang and other delegates on the major missions of the General Department of Logistics in 2019.

According to the report, apart from its regular mission of providing logistic items and services for all defense agencies and military units, the General Department of Logistics focuses on several major plans: to build a comprehensive network of military stores; to rearrange the system of military hospitals and medical facilities; to reorganize the military logistic sector’s apparatus; and to invest in modern logistic equipment, machinery and facilities.

Agencies and units under the General Department of Logistics have, in fact, been conducting these missions since the beginning of the year, and achieved initial good results. For instance, the Department of Military Supplies has actively studied and perfected several field uniforms for officers and soldiers of military services and arms.

In general, the whole General Department of Logistics resolves to complete the missions in an effective and scientific manner.

Speaking at the meeting, General Giang acknowledged that the General Department of Logistics successfully fulfilled its missions and attained a number of achievements, particularly in military equipment, military provisions, military construction and transportation. Under the leadership of the General Department of Logistics, the military medicine showed a high sense of responsibility for disease prevention in military units and provided good healthcare services for military troops. Especially, the General Department of Logistics proactively streamlined its organization and personnel in line with instructions of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Giang applauded.

Regarding its missions in the time to come, General Giang gave some directions, saying that the development of the military logistic storage system must be closely associated with the main missions and functions of the General Department of Logistics as well as the master plan on the building of defensive areas while the reorganization of military hospitals and medical facilities must be carefully studied and based on the current training and combat readiness missions of the whole military.

General Giang also instructed the leadership of the General Department of Logistics to invest smartly and efficiently in vehicles and continue to streamline its organization and personnel for more efficiency and effectiveness.
