During the patrols, the two sides’ naval ships kept contact with each side’s standing office of joint patrol, regularly exchanged information about the situation of the waters and related issues, observed and controlled vehicles operating in the historical waters in accordance with mechanisms, regulations and laws. Their joint activities helped maintain security and order in the waters and create favorable conditions for the two countries’ fishermen to work.

Also at the conference, the two sides agreed to continue observing the agreement on the historical waters and joint patrol coordination regulation. They reached consensus on accelerating dissemination among fishermen and encourage them to abide by law and regulations on seafood exploitation. In addition, they will pro-actively work with the two sides’ functional forces to prevent and fight against cross-border terrorism, smuggling, and illegal transport of goods, weapons, explosives, drugs, human trafficking, tax evasion and illegal immigration.

Both sides agreed to maintain communication channels, particularly hotlines, to deal with sea-related cases in a timely, harmonious and satisfactory manner in the spirit of cooperation, respecting each country’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law. These will contribute to upholding an environment of peace, stability and deepening the solidarity, friendship, understanding and mutual trust between the two navies.
