Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, and Victoria Pullen, Head of the Home Office International Operations of the Home Office of the United Kingdom, co-chaired the event.

Under the agreement, the two sides will enhance exchanging information to detect, prevent, investigate and address activities of human trafficking crimes related to border areas, border gates, sea and islands; cooperate in verifying, rescuing and supporting victims in specialized projects and cases; and boost experience sharing to raise the efficiency of the human trafficking prevention and combat; among others.

Addressing the event, Victoria Pullen expressed her delight at the increasingly extensive cooperation between the U.K.’s Head Office and Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense in general, and the Vietnam Border Guard Command in particular. She also underlined the significance of the cooperation agreement that creates a basis for both sides to strengthen their cooperative relations.

At the signing ceremony, Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai and Victoria Pullen hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would strictly implement all contents mentioned in the agreement, with a focus on completing training documents on human trafficking prevention and combat for the Vietnam Border Guard Academy before the end of this year; exchanging information on human trafficking crimes, especially new methods and tricks; building plans for workshops to share experiences in the field and training courses for the Vietnamese border guards to raise their capability of human trafficking prevention and combat.
