Vietnam and Czech defense cooperation strengthened
PANO - Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception for Vice Chairman of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies and leader of the Czech Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia Vojtěch Filip at the Defense Ministry’s headquarters on June 11.
At the meeting, General Giang stressed that Vietnam and the Czech Republic have enjoyed fine developments in their defense ties. Especially, since the signing of a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation in 2012, the two defense ministries have carried out a number of activities to develop the ties with a focus on exchange of delegations, training of human resources, defense industry and technical services.

The Vietnamese deputy defense minister suggested the two sides promote exchange of all-level defense delegations, especially of high-level delegations, enhance cooperation in training military personnel in Czech, and coordinate in scientific research and technology transfer.
The two sides should boost information sharing and exchange of viewpoints on strategic issues of common concern, create favorable conditions for their defense businesses to seek cooperation in military trade and defense industry while increasing experience sharing and cooperation in neutralizing bombs and mines left behind from the war, and cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Sharing the host’s views about defense cooperation, Vice Chairman of the Czech lower house affirmed that he would create favorable conditions for the two sides to develop their defense ties in a more effective and practical manner.
