The organization of the refresher course is part of the cooperation program in 2022 between the Vietnamese and Lao Defense Ministries to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic ties and 45 years since the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two nations.

During the one-month long course, the Lao trainees will learn about the organization and operation of Vietnam’s National Defense Journal and its online newspaper with Vietnamese, English, and Chinese versions. The most experienced Vietnamese officers from the National Defense Journal will also share their experience in building, managing, and operating the journal’s website and writing articles of different types.

Apart from class-time, the Lao trainees will have field trips to research and dissemination agencies and units and visit historical and cultural relics and famous sceneries in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, and Nghe An, among others.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam’s National Defense Journal Major General Ta Quang Chuyen asked lecturers, trainees, interpreters, and staff of relevant agencies and department to overcome difficulties and create favorable conditions to make the course a success.
