The fifth course aims to raise the capability and methodology of military strategy research for officers from the Department of Military Science and History under the Lao Ministry of National Defense.

During a month-long course, the trainees will learn theories, exchange and share experience with instructors from the Vietnam Institute for Defense Strategy.

Also, learners will have an opportunity to participate in field trips to military units, contributing to consolidating the solidarity, special friendship, and multifaceted cooperation between the two militaries and peoples.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Nguyen Van Than, Deputy Head of the Defense Strategy Institute, underlined that embracing and implementing the foreign policy of the Vietnamese Party and State, the institute has defined the training for Lao officers in general and for the Department of Military Science and History in particular as one of its important political missions.

Gen. Than expressed his hope that participating Lao officers will overcome difficulties and do their utmost to meet the requirements of the training course while promoting exchanges of experience and issues of mutual concerns with their instructors to enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and peoples in general and between the Institute for Defense Strategy and the Department of Military Science and History in particular.

For the Lao parts, Lieutenant Colonel Bouathay Mingmeuangath, Head of the Lao officers’ delegation, affirmed that the trainees will heighten their determination and try their best to apply acquired knowledge from the course to task performance.
