The program is part of the implementation of the Border Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense’s Border Guard Command and the Lao Ministry of National Defense’s Border Guard Department, and the Memorandum of Understanding of the 13th meeting between the Border Guard Commands of Vietnamese provinces of Dien Bien and Son La and the Military Commands of the Lao provinces of Phongsaly and Luang Prabang.

The three-week long course is expected to help both sides tighten solidarity and raise efficiency of border management and protection.

During the course, the trainees will be equipped with basic knowledge on politics, military, national border management and protection. They also study history of the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos; visit and learn practical experience at some border guard posts of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Hung, Second-in-Command of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command, requested the organizing board of the course to thoroughly prepare all contents and conduct the course as regulated. Meanwhile, the trainees should actively share experience in border management and protection.
