The exchange is also a highlight marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - 2025).

The defense leader made that emphasis at a meeting on April 9 at the Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s headquarters to review the preparation for the exchange.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien speaks at the event.

According to Gen. Chien, such an exchange has helped boost friendship and solidarity between the two countries’ border protection forces, local authorities and people in the border areas of the two countries, contributing to building and protecting the Vietnam-China border of peace, stability, friendship, cooperation and development.

He asked relevant units to define their tasks as key political ones, closely coordinate with functional agencies inside and outside the military and ensure a solemn organization, smooth communication, logistics supplies, and especially absolute safety. He requested them to make timely reports on remaining difficulties and bottlenecks to MND’s leadership to get directions.

The ninth edition of the exchange will take place on April 16 and 17 in Vietnam’s Lang Son province and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Focal activities will include a welcome ceremony for the Chinese delegation, led by China’s Defense Minister Dong Jun, hosted by Vietnamese head delegate Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang; marker salute and painting; friendship-tree planting; visits to the Border Post of Huu Nghi International Border Gate and Viettel Group’s logistics park; talks; and signing of cooperation documents.
