Military history research course opened for Lao officers
PANO - The Vietnam Institute of Military History on June 24 opened a refresher course on military history research for 25 officers of the Lao People’s Army at Unit 871 of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Hoang Nhien, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Military History, said that like the Vietnamese people, the Lao people have a tradition in fighting against foreign invaders with numerous great victories along the course of the country’s history. The military history of the Lao People's Army is always associated with the country's heroic history. Therefore, research on the Lao military history has played an important role, helping vividly reflect struggles of the Lao people against foreign invaders, especially in armed conflicts.

The course aims to review the theory, find out the operational rules of conducting a revolutionary war, as well as to provide scientific and strategic arguments for the Lao Party and State to make military policies, improve training quality and combat readiness of the Lao People's Armed Forces, and contribute to firmly safeguarding the country in the revolutionary period.
According to Gen. Nhien, the Vietnam Institute of Military History has so far organized seven training courses on military history for officers of the Lao People’s Army. After the course, the Lao officers are expected to apply what they learned to their everyday missions at their units.
During this month-long course, the Lao officers will study a broad range of subjects, mainly focusing on military history studies, war reviews and scientific management of military history.
