Affirming that the U.N. is Vietnam’s most important partner, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien noted that Vietnam pays much importance to promoting cooperation with the U.N. He also hailed the U.N.’s role in building an international legal system, peacekeeping, preventing conflict, and responding to global challenges.

The Deputy Defense Minister also thanked the U.N. functional organs and the U.N. Under Secretary General for supporting the Vietnamese Defense Ministry, especially in U.N. peacekeeping operations. Since June, 2014, Vietnam has dispatched over 500 military troops and officers of the public security force to take part in the U.N. peacekeeping operations. Currently, the proportion of Vietnamese female soldiers participating in the U.N. peacekeeping operations is 13.6%. They all have made great and active contribution to the mission.
