The International Master Minh scored seven points after nine matches. He took home a USD 1,500 bonus in cash. The winner was Grandmaster Grigoryan Kare of Armenia who bagged 7.5 points.

IM Duong The Anh of Vietnam came third with 6.5 points.

The first ever tournament in Laos lured 68 masters from 15 countries with a total purse of USD 10,000.

Vietnam sent 12 competitors to the event and six of them were in the top 20.
