Vietnamese fallen soldiers’ remains repatriated from Cambodia buried
PANO - The Long An provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a memorial and burial service for 110 fallen soldiers at the province’s Vinh Hung -Tan Hung War Cemetery on July 27.
The sets of remains were found and repatriated by Search Team K73 of the provincial Military Command in several localities in Cambodia in the 2019-2020 dry season.
In his speech, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Can expressed deep gratitude to the soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting national border sovereignty and fulfilling international service.
He underlined that the search and repatriation of remains of fallen soldiers demonstrate the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source.” These activities also serve to arouse patriotism in young generations.
On the same day, the provincial People’s Committee held a conference to review the search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers in the 2019-2020 dry season.
Reportedly, members of Search Team K73 strictly exercised regulations and military disciplines while ensuring absolute safety for personnel and technical equipment.
Reports delivered at the event said that since 2001, they have found and collected over 2,200 sets of remains of fallen soldiers and discovered six mass graves.
On the occasion, the committee presented certificates of merit to six groups and 18 individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to searching and collecting remains of fallen soldiers in the period.
