Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Gau speaks at the event.

In his speech, Gen. Gau asked all agencies and units to accelerate and complete clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance in Tuyen Quang province’s Vi Xuyen core area, Lao Cai and Lang Son provinces in 2026; search and repatriate remains of fallen soldiers at home and abroad; and collect samples from remains of unidentified fallen soldiers in war cemeteries; conclude training courses on sample collection, handover procedures, and the digitization of information related to the remains with Military Region 4 setting as an example.

The defense leader also asked for more information dissemination on the campaign to create broad public consensus and support.

Gen. Gau underlined that the period from now until July 27 is the “peak of the peak.” Thus, all agencies and units in the military must focus their leadership and direction with the highest determination and the most decisive, effective actions. Commanders at all levels, especially heads of agencies and specialized departments, must directly oversee the work and take full responsibility for the results within their respective agencies and units.
