Quang Tri targets recovery of 360 sets of martyrs’ remains in “500-day Campaign”
PANO - The Quang Tri provincial Steering Committee 515 held a conference on March 16 to assign tasks and coordinate preparations for the launch of the “500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of martyrs’ remains.”
The campaign is to mark the 80th anniversary of the Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2027). The meeting was chaired by Le Van Bao, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and head of the Steering Committee.

Under the campaign’s targets, participating forces aim to recover at least 360 sets of martyrs’ remains. Specifically, the Quang Tri provincial Military Command is tasked with recovering at least 240 sets, Division 968 under Military Region 4 at least 60 sets, and Defense - Economic Unit 337 under Military Region 4 at least 60 sets.
Units will also complete DNA sampling for all unidentified remains at cemeteries across the province, as well as newly recovered remains, and develop a genetic database of relatives of unidentified martyrs to support identification efforts.
The campaign launch ceremony is scheduled for late March 2026 at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site, with the campaign set to conclude in July 2027.

Concluding the meeting, Le Van Bao called on relevant agencies and localities to pro-actively develop detailed plans, ensure close coordination, and make thorough preparations. He emphasized the need for effective communication, security, and logistics, stressing that the launch must be solemn, meaningful, and impactful, helping raise public awareness and responsibility toward fallen heroes and enhancing the effectiveness of search and identification efforts.
