Speaking at the event, Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee Phan Viet Cuong said 60 years ago, on March 12, 1960, an event of great historical significance took place in Thanh Hoa city marking the friendship of the two provinces of Quang Nam and Thanh Hoa.
Since then, the two provinces’ authorities and people have always supported each other in implementing their missions.
Over 1,300 troops from Thanh Hoa sacrificed their lives during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists for national salvation.
Recently, the authorities of the two provinces decided to build a memorial in dedication to war martyrs from Thanh Hoa who fought and laid down their lives in Quang Nam.
The inauguration of the project coincides with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Quang Nam – Thanh Hoa friendship, which multiplies the historical, cultural, political and humane values of the friendship of the two provinces.
The 120m2 project was implemented by Quang Nam’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on December 2019.
The memorial is placed in Quang Nam provincial War Cemetery.
