According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Mang Truong, Second-in-Command of the Defensive Area Region 3 – Na Son Command, having been reported on the flood, the unit immediately mobilized all of the personnel to evacuate people to safer places. They then quickly moved into the isolated villages of Hang Pu Xi of Xa Dung commune and Hang Lia of Tia Dinh commune, where roads were cut off, power and clean water were gone, and people were missing.
With the spirit, “Lives of the people above all,” soldiers trekked for kilometers through forests, streams, and deep mud to reach flood victims, searching for the missing with the hope of a miracle.
