The recent flooding in the Central region caused great losses in lives and property in Minh Hoa district. Notably, 3 people died, nearly 2,000 houses were deeply submerged by floodwaters and 17 villages were isolated. The total damage is estimated atnearly VND 100 billion.

Border guards present gifts to flood-hit people |
The prolonged rains and floods caused damage not only to the local authorities and people, but also to troops and border guard stations of the provincial Border Guard Command.
In particular, flash floods and landslides triggered by downpours destroyed the entire barracks of the border guard station at Cha Lo border gate. Although there was no loss of life, the unit's troops still face many difficulties in their daily life and work.
The local authorities and the armed forces of Minh Hoa district are making great efforts to overcome the natural disaster consequences and soon stabilize their lives.
The Border Guard Command, in association with the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) to visit and present gifts to troops and local people.
*A delegation of the Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense, led by its Director Major General Nguyen Hong Son, on November 8 provided free health check-ups and health counseling to 600 people in Tinh Bac commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province.
The event also saw the participation of An Sinh Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), Thanh Nien newspaper to share the difficulties and losses with flood-hit people, and help them mitigate storm consequences.
During the medical examination, people received medical counseling, general medical practice with the use of electrocardiogram and ultrasound machines.
The skilled doctors and medical workers also provided health counseling to the locals, helping them more aware of healthcare and disease prevention.
The same day, the delegation and leaders of Military Region 5 visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Pham Thi Gi, policy families, and needy people in the region.
