Senior Colonel Nguyen Xuan Boi presenting gifts to flood-affected people in Quang Binh 

Following the tradition of solidarity and compassion, the corps’ staff and workers have donated nearly VND 400 million to support people in the central region.

On November 5 and 6, an Army Corps 18 mission, led by its deputy commander Senior Colonel Nguyen Xuan Boi, visited and presented 100 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to people in Phong Binh commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien - Hue province.

In Quang Tri province, the mission handed over 50 gifts, each valued at VND 2 million, to flood-hit people in Ta Long commune, Dakrong district.

Meanwhile, the mission also visited and gave gifts to 200 people in Loc Thuy and Lien Thuy communes of Quang Binh province’s Le Thuy district.

According to Colonel Hoang Xuan Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Politics of Army Corps 18, the corps will conduct more meaningful activities to help ease difficulties for flood-hit people.

Apart from raising funds to support people in flood-devastated localities, Army Corps 18 has carried out various gratitude activities, such as handing over nine gratitude houses and visiting and presenting gifts to fallen troops’ families, policy beneficiaries, national contributors, and sick and wounded soldiers nationwide with the total value of over VND 1 billion.

* Also on November 6, representatives from the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board handed over VND 160 million donated by the board’s staff, workers and soldiers to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support troops and people in flood-hit central localities.

At the event, Senior Colonel Pham Hai Trung, Deputy Head of the board hoped that the gift will help ease the recipients’ pains and losses and they will resume their normal lives soon.
