Helicopters deployed to deliver relief aid to people in Lang Son
PANO - On October 8, the Air Defense - Air Force Service directed Division 371 to deploy helicopters from Regiment 916 to deliver relief supplies and assist residents in Van Nham and Yen Binh communes, Lang Son Province, which were isolated by flooding caused by Typhoon Matmo, the 11th storm hitting Vietnam this year.
Two helicopters, one Mi-171 and one Mi-17, departed from Hoa Lac Airfield at 7:30 a.m. and 8:20 a.m., respectively, to Gia Lam Airfield to load approximately two tons of essential supplies each, including instant noodles, drinking water, dry rations, life jackets, and milk. Major General Vu Hong Son, Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, directly oversaw the relief flight operations.
At 9:50 a.m. and 10:15 a.m, the helicopters took off, delivering relief supplies to residents stranded and isolated in Van Nham and Yen Binh communes, Lang Son Province.
