On September 21, Military Region 5 reviewed the region’s COVID-19 prevention and control work since the fourth COVID-19 outbreak in the country under the chair of its Commanding General Major General Nguyen Dinh Tien, who is also the head of the region’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

An overview of the meeting

In response to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 in the country, especially in the region, the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of Military Region 5 have implemented a number of drastic measures against the diseases. They have directed affiliates to work closely with local Party committees, authorities, and other forces and showed high determination to early detect, prevent, zone off, and stamp out the pandemic effectively. Apart from achievements in the COVID-19 fight, Military Region 5 has also carried out drills and training with high quality. It has also directed relevant agencies to make good preparation for and ensure absolute safety for the organization of the defensive area exercises in 2021 of Da Nang city and Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces and other division- and brigade-level drills.

In the coming time, agencies and units under Military Region 5 will continue to exercise COVID-19 prevention and control measures and complete their key political missions for this year in line with reality, as well as develop approaches to adapting to the new normal state in the current period.

Presenting rice to 200 ethnic minority households in Phu Rieng district

To support 200 ethnic minority households in Phu Rieng district, Binh Phuoc province, who have been affected by the pandemic, the provincial Committee on Ethnic Minority People Affairs has given them two tons of rice which has been donated by local benefactors.

Meanwhile, the Military Region 9 Command has presented VND 100 million each to Bui Huu Nghia and An Thoi wards in Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city to assist local policy beneficiaries, poor and disadvantaged households. These localities have been badly-hit by the pandemic with a high number of COVID-19 patients. The support was from the command’s welfare fund.

Sharing losses with them and asking them about their daily lives and study, the delegations have pledged that the city would create favorable conditions for them to learn, grow up and become useful people for society.
